Port Blair, Mar 26: Expressing anger against lack of basic facilities for students inside Brookshabad Campus of Pondicherry University, the students of Department of Ocean Studies & Marine Biology Pondicherry University Brookshabad campus Andaman and Nicobar Islands today organised a massive protest this morning.
The students holding placards shouted slogans against the management demanding basic facilities for students so that they can focus on their studies.
While talking to Andaman Sheekha, students alleged that they have been made to pay all kind of fees like Sports fees, Medical examination fund, Library fund, Lab fund but they are not provided with any of these facilities to a standard level. Even they don’t have any doctor on campus or a vehicle in case of emergencies to carry a patient to nearest hospital. Students alleged that the labs are not properly equipped and has just two microscopes and the whole disaster management department is run by only two faculties at present.
According to fuming students, the students were supposed to get a yearly stipend of Rs.10,000 but that is also not paid on a regular basis and moreover whenever they are paid, they are paid less.
Students alleged that they came all the way from mainland expecting good facilities and a supportive environment for education but after coming all the way here they feel totally disappointed.
