Port Blair, Aug 07: A delegation of Andaman Chamber of Commerce and Industries (ACCI) called on the Lt Governor, Lt Gen (Retd) Bhopinder Singh, PVSM, AVSM at Raj Niwas on Today.
Talking to Andaman Sheekha the President of ACCI, Mr. G Bhasker said that the meeting was held to discuss on various points, mentioned in the memorandum of ACCI, which was submitted to the Lt. Governor, nearly two weeks back.
“Lt. Governor has assured us timely action in many issues. Regarding quarry problems the Lt. Governor has assured us that before 15 September 2012 the problem will be solved. Regarding Buffer Zone he told us that Administration is having a re-look into the entire issue. Regarding CRZ the LG told ACCI delegation that both Administration and ACCI are in same platform, because, due to CRZ restrictions, a lot of development projects are held up. The Lt.Governor has also assured that the power crisis will end within 45 days,” Mr. Bhasker added.
The ACCI president added that regarding delay in completion of Dhanikhari Dam height raising works, the Lt. Governor told the delegation that the project got delayed because of shortage of quarry materials.
“He told as that now quarry materials for the project will be brought from Mainland and hence it is expected that by March or June 2013 the work of raising height of Dhanikhari Dam will be completed,” Mr. Bhasker added.
There were discussions in many other issues between the Lt. Governor and the ACCI delegation and a detailed report is still awaited.
