Port Blair, Feb 25: In view of the forthcoming General Election to Lok Sabha 2019, the District Level Media Certification and Monitoring Committee (MCMC) for North and Middle Andaman District is constituted. According to reports Mr. Awanish Kumar, IAS, District Commissioner (N&M) will be the Chairman of the committee while Mr. Mahesh Kumar Gupta, DANICS, Assistant Commissioner, Mayabunder, Mr. K. Shanmugam, Prominent Citizen and Dr. P K Mandal, Journalist (Andaman Sheekha Correspondent and RNU,AIR Port Blair PTC) will be members of the committee. Mr. G.V.S Prasad, Senior Investigator Election Cell, N&M A will be the member secretary.
The above committee shall have two distinct set of functions viz Certification of Advertisements for which District Election Officer (N&MA) and Assistant Commissioner (HO) shall have to consider and decide on such advertisements for certification and Examining complaints/issues of Paid news, etc., by all the members through a monitoring arrangement.
