Port Blair, Feb 13: Month after month the BSNL broadband bills are making holes in the pockets of general public of Andaman and Nicobar Islands. Worth suffers are the small and big business owners of these Islands who are paying through their nose for this pathetic internet service of BSNL, which is claimed to be ‘broadband’ but is nowhere close to even 3G network of Mainland India.
Sadly even after getting worst Broadband Service in comparison to Mainland India, people of Andaman and Nicobar Islands are forced to pay bills as per probably India’s most expensive broadband tariff, which is totally unjustified.
Call it total failure of Andaman’s political leaders to take up this issue with appropriate level or inability of Andaman’s political leaders to understand problems of general public, the matter was not even highlighted properly with the concerned Ministry.
Even the Lt. Governor was unable to give an appropriate answer to a question in this regard, when asked during his media interaction on 14 November 2018.
The Member of Parliament of Andaman and Nicobar Islands, who is supposed to bat for people of Andaman and Nicobar Islands and take up such issues with Ministry has also failed to solve this problem. As a result lakhs and lakhs of rupees are unnecessarily being paid by people of these Islands if all bills are calculated together.
Connectivity is one of such issues, which leaves widespread impact among public, especially youths. Such day light loot in the name of Internet Service, which is causing huge loss to public, will certainly show its impact in coming Lok Sabha elections.
