Port Blair, Feb 11: A fire was reported from Joda Kilan boat repairing area yesterday evening at around 8:20 PM, from one boat. The fire later reportedly spread in two more boats. As per detail one boat was completely gutted in fire while two other boats suffered partial damages.
As per reports, the fire services received information about the fire at around 8.20 PM and within minutes, Fire Tenders reached the spot and by 8:35 PM the fire was brought under total control. According to fire brigade sources the cause of fire was some kind of welding works.
Fire tenders from HQ Aberdeen and Garacharma reportedly reached the spot in no time and doused the fire by using four Fire tenders and two water browsers. There is no report of any injuries.
Eye witnesses told Andaman Sheekha that the incident may have taken more ugly shape but due to prompt response of Fire Services team, under leadership of Inspector Vishnoi the fire was brought under control very soon.
