Port Blair, Jan 29: A 53-year-old man died after a scuffle with a 24 year-old-resident of Garacharma yesterday night.
The deceased was identified as Mr. V Rajendran, a resident of Prothrapur, Electrician of MES Department working at Air Force Station.
As per sources, since past 15 yrs V. Rajendran, was taking care of a widow lady of Garacharma and her two children, one of whom is Mr. Kalairasan, the accused in this case.
Since last two years, Mr. Kalairasan and Mr. V Rajendran had some clash and Rajendran impede to go their home.
On 28/01/19 at 2100 hrs, Rajendran reportedly went to the house of Mr. Kalairasan for conveying the message that he is going to Rangat on 29/01/19.
Sources said that during this visit, Mr. Kalairasan reportedly attacked V Rajendran with a knife on his head, chest & on all body parts.
Later PCR van took Mr. V Rajendran to PHC Garacharma, where Doctor informed that Mr. V Rajendran succumbed to his injuries.
Although from the family of Mr. Kalairasan, there was an effort to prove as if the victim has jumped out of the terrace and died but interrogation of PS Pahargaon team, under the leadership of Sub Inspector P. Jeevan (SHO in-charge for the day) the case was cracked within hours.
After proper investigation, the accused was arrested at 0345hrs at PS Pahargaon and his confessional statement was recorded. Upon his confession the Police team reportedly recovered the knife, which was used in the attack, from thick bushes near Mr. Kalairasan’s house.
A case has been registered against Mr. Kalairasan under section 302 IPC by police.
