Port Blair, Jan.18: The Parliamentary Standing Committee on Urban Development will be arriving here on a three day visit to the Islands tomorrow (Jan.19). During this visit, the members of the Committee will undertake field visit of ongoing projects of Solid Waste Management, Development of Smart Cities, Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY-U), Rain Water Harvesting in Metropolitan Cities and AMRUT & HRIDAY on Jan.19. Apart from this, they will also visit the National Memorial Cellular Jail and Anthropological Museum.
On Jan.21 the Committee will hold informal discussion with the representatives of UT of Port Blair, District Administration/ Local Municipal Authorities, CPWD, HUDCO, NBCC, NHB, HPL, State Bank of India, Syndicate Bank and Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs, on Solid Waste Management, Development of Smart Cities, Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY-U), Rainwater Harvesting in Metropolitan Cities, AMRUT and HRIDAY.
On completion of the visit, the Committee will depart for mainland in the afternoon of Jan.21.
