Port Blair, Aug 01: To commemorate the 63rd Vanamahotsava-2012, the Coast Guard Wives Welfare Association (CGWWA) Andaman & Nicobar Region, in association with the Department of Environment & Forests, A&N Administration organized massive tree plantation drive at Tatrakshak Vihar on 31 Jul 12. The Officers, Men and their families including children from all Coast Guard units based at Port Blair enthusiastically participated in the drive. Mrs. Jyoti Murthy, the President Tatrakshika (A&N) planted the first sapling and congratulated Coast Guard fraternity for putting upon their efforts in celebrating Vanamahotsava in a most befitting manner. On the occasion, the children were educated on the role of trees and importance of forests in our eco-system.
True to its Motto ‘We Protect’, the Coast Guard is doing credible work towards generating environment awareness amongst the CG Personnel and the civil community.
The various other activities conducted by the Coast Guard towards this cause are observance of ‘World Environment Day’ on 05 Jun 12 and ‘Save Environment Run’ on 14 Jul 12.
