Port Blair, Jan 04: An extended Central Executive Committee meeting of the Non-Gazetted Government Officers’ Association, A & N Islands was held on 3rd January,2019 at Crusade house, Port Blair. The meeting chaired by Mr. P.Satyapal, President of the Association unanimously decided to organise 2-day agitation programme on 8th and 9th January,2019 in support of National Strike called by Central Trade Unions and Confederation of Central Govt. employees and workers. The territory-wide agitation in the islands will be organized jointly by the Association and Centre of Indian Trade Unions (CITU).
At Port Blair a mass evening Dharna will be organized on both days and similar programmes will be organized at all outstations also. The main demand of the National strike include Withdrawing new contributory pension scheme (NPS) ;Settlement of 7th Central Pay Commission issues; Filling-up of vacant posts; Regularization of Gramin Dak Sevaks; Equal pay for equal work ;etc.
A number of local demands of employees under A & N Administration and workers are also included in the Charter of Demands by the Association and CITU. Mr. T S Sreekumar, General Secretary and Mr. S N Mishra, Vice President addressed the meeting whereas Mr. R Rajendran, Assistant General Secretary proposed vote of thanks.
