Port Blair, July 29: The A&N state unit of Bharatiya Janta Party hasd demanded total rollback of electricity tariff hike, which was announced recently. Reacting to a temporary stay on tariff hike announced by the Lt. Governor, the BJP State President, Mr R. Mohan has demanded a full and final rollback of the increased tariff instead of keeping in abeyance for the time being.
In a letter to the LG, the BJP leader has said that while at the outset the party appreciates the stay on tariff hike until the full power generation is restored, it would in the fitness of things and in the larger interest of the public if the hike is permanently rolled back.
The BJP has also renewed its demand for rollback of two and four wheeler fare hike in vehicle ferries. Other demands of the party include eggs for school children in midday meals.
