Seeking exemption of IV Rules,2016
Port Blair, Dec 10: Mr. Bishnu Pada Ray, MP Andaman along with Mr. C Kurma Rao, District General Secretary –(BJP) Rangat, Mr. Bharat Sharma, President-Island Tourist Boat Operator Association and Mr. A Murgeshan, DM Shukla, Omkar Office bearer of Baratang Fibber Boat Association met with the Secretary (Shipping), A & N Administration on 10-12-2018 to discuss the issue of relaxation in IV Rules,2016 . Mr. Bishnu Pada Ray, MP informed that consequent upon implementation of IV Rules, 2016, the tourist boat owners have to face over burden for repaying Bank/PMEGP loan. This will adversely affect the livelihood of local youth associated with tourism activities, besides huge loss of tourism industry in this Island.
Consequent upon discussion, the Secretary (Shipping) has assured to M.P. and the representatives of Tourist boat owners that the Administration has appointed Capt. Rajinder Kumar, Ex-Director shipping as a consultant to examine the issue and to submit the report within 10 days. The Secretary, Shipping further informed that the boat which have certified by IRS, having GPIV rating and the Master/ Sarang/ Crew Members having STCW certificate will be considered for exemption on receipt of the report of the Consultant.
