Port Blair, July 26: The Member of Parliament of A & N Islands, Mr. Bishnu Pada Ray today alleged that the Andaman & Nicobar Command is working hand in glove with A & N Administration in Viper Yacht Marina Deal.
Addressing a press conference at MP office this evening, the MP said that the proposed site of Viper Yacht Marina is hardly two or three kilometers away from the Naval Base of Haddo, which has FDN, Submarines, Oil Tankers etc.
Giving the example of Mumbai terrorist attack MP said that Yacht Marina Project is a threat to our islands. Quoting Andaman Sheekha’s report, the MP said that he smells rat on the statement given by the Chief of Staff of ANC, yesterday, in which the COS had said that “Viper Island Yacht Marina project not a threat to Island Security.”
The MP also questioned that if the ANC is having “Sagar Prahary Bal” then why all the time the Myanmarese Poachers enter into Afra Bay, Macca Chua, Govind Nagar, Havlock and misbehave with our Islanders.
“I will write a letter to the Defence Minister of India and also to the President of India in this regard,” MP added.
Later in his conference the MP demanded continuation in service of all 239 teachers of “Sarva Siksha Abhyan” who are working since 2003, under this project.
The MP also demanded to create posts for the Nurses who are working in the Government hospitals since 1999. “We were asked to sign the bond that we cannot go and work outside, and now the health department is saying that we are not eligible to work in Health Services, as we are over aged,” Mrs Deepa a member of Andaman Nicobar Unemployed Nurse Association (ANUNA) told the media persons in the press conference.
