Port Blair, Nov 27: Passengers traveling in early morning ferry to Baratang, Havelock or Neil Island area are presently experiencing huge inconvenience because of unwanted rules being imposed on them by the IRBnJawans at the main gate.
According to the reports, the first ferry in the morning is for Baratang, which leaves as 5.30 AM and surprisingly till 5.10 AM, passengers are not allowed to enter the main gate of Shipping Services.
It is known fact that in many cases passengers of Baratang purchase tickets from the ticket counter of DSS, situated inside the campus and this delay in giving entry causes bagful of troubles for passengers who have tothen run for the vessel and security check.
Moreover, even if it is raining passengers are made to stand outside the gate where there is no shelter and the reply of these impolite IRBnJawan is “We have orders”.
Not only this even in case of old passengers and infants, car are not allowed to enter the gate and drop passengers upto the scanning area.
Moreover, the scanning counter inside the Jetty area open only by 5.15 am and again passenger have to stand in line outside the scanning counter and once open they have to run to catch the ferry.
“Senior officers of Shipping Services must visit the Jetty area atleast one day in a week in morning hours to understand problems being faced by public,” said a PRI member of Baratang.
