Port Blair, Nov 19: Admiral D.K. Joshi, PVSM, AVSM, YSM, NM, VSM (Retd.) Lt Governor, A&N Islands welcomed the Defence Minister of Singapore Dr Ng Eng Hen, the first Minister of a foreign country to visit the Islands. The Minister evinced keen interest in close proximity of A&N Islands to ASEAN & Far-East and its strategic location in the Indo-Pacific. The Minister was briefed on various transformational, infrastructure, connectivity and tourism projects, progressed through IDA with the support of NITI Aayog, and the “Gateway to ASEAN” initiatives proposed by A&N Administration. Subsequently, the Defence Minister was invited by the Lt Governor to have a look through the historic pre-World War-II Japanese era binocular telescope at Raj Niwas, which having been in disuse for over seven decades was recently refurbished to its original state.
