Port Blair, Nov 19: The 4th Day of the 65th All India Cooperative Week Celebration 2018 held on 17th Nov, 2018 at the Village of Macca Pahad, Mr. K Muthu, Ward Councilor, Ward No-19, Port Blair Municipal Council was the Chief Guest on the occasion. The programme was also attended by Mr. K Paramasivam, Director A & N State Coop. Union, Mr. K. Subramaniam, Director, A & N State Coop. Bank Ltd, Mr. Suresh Babu, Incharge Rajiv Gandhi Cooperative Training Centre, Mr. Ajay Dua, Branch Manager, A & N State Coop. Bank, Burmanallah Branch and Various Cooperative Institutions, Representatives of various Apex and Central Level Cooperatives, Govt. Officials, NGO, PRI members and a large gathering of general public and Islanders.
At the beginning, Mr. K Subramaniam, Director, A & N State Coop. Bank Ltd, welcomed all the delegates to the 4th Day of 65th All India Coop. Week Celebration 2018. He further informed the importance of Cooperative sector to build a new society by fulfil of socio-economic needs of farmers and islanders.
While addressing the gathering assembled, as a chief Guest Mr. K Muthu expressed his view in the importance of Agricultural activity being taken over by the Villagers of Macca Pahad and Burmanallah. As a responsible member of the villager they may form the new Cooperative societies in the field of Diary, Vegetable cultivation, Poultry and Integrated Farming System in which they can earn reasonable rate of Interest for their livelihood income.
Further Mr. Ajay Dua, Branch Manager, A&N St. CB, Burmanallah Branch also spoke on the occasion by informing various Financial schemes from A & N State Coop. Bank, NABARD, Agriculture Dept. He further informed that such project under Umbrella Programme for Natural Resource Management (UPNRM) has been successfully made first at Macca Pahad Village in A&N Islands by the A & N State Coop. Bank.
Mr. Suresh Babu, In-charge Rajiv Gandhi Cooperative Training Centre, (RGCTC) also spoke on the topic “Building Private- Public Partnership by highlighting the importance of Co-operative Week to the gathering. He cited the Public Private Partnership (PPP) Model, a collaboration work may carry with all the sectors like SHGs, Service Societies, Diary Cooperative and other farming sectors to join hand together for making of processing Unit of Copra and by-products by its own, since Macca Pahad is well known for best productivity of Copra. He later on informed the gathering about history of Cooperative movement in the world, and India is the best example for Cooperative sector. The Programme ended with a vote of thanks proposed by Mr. Arumugam, Ward member of Gram Panchayat, Beodnabad.
