Port Blair, Nov 16: Take a stroll around the foreshore road from Dignabad to Marin Hill and you will instantly get a feeling as if the Port Blair Municipal Council does not even exist in Port Blair city.
Last month Andaman Sheekha had reported that how this place used to remain dominated by antisocial elements, who had turned this area into an open air bar, after which police department took serious note of this and cleared the area from all kind of suspicious people.
Thanks to Police team of PS Aberdeen, today the area is not only safe for public but also free from all kind of suspicious people but sadly the garbage dumped by those drunkards nearly one month back are still lying all along the said stretch of road, which proves that the Port Blair Municipal Council did not even send a sanitary worker in that area for cleaning since last one month.
Photographs taken by Andaman Sheekha few days back show that how empty glass, bear and liquor bottles are dumped along the coastal area of this place.
Not only this, the walkway was constructed spending lacks of rupees, is also in a horrible state. In many places tiles are gone while other places the metal grills are completely broken because of rusting. People living around the area told Andaman Sheekha that proper painting of the metal grill would have easily saved those from corrosion, but due to negligence now the grills are falling apart.
If PBMC can’t maintain a property then there is no point spending crores of rupees for constructing the same. Andaman & Nicobar Islands are blessed with natural beauty and it is the duty of Civic Bodies to keep it clean and make it presentable for lakhs of domestic and foreign visitors, we are getting every years and also for people living in these beautiful city.
