Port Blair, Oct 31: Mr. Vishal Jolly, State President BJP, A&N Islands has requested the Chief Secretary, A&N Administration on 30th October at New Delhi, to incorporate some points in the MHA meeting scheduled on 31st October 2018. In continuation to the letter addressed to the Chief Secretary, A&N Admn, on dated 11.10.2018, regarding preparation for the Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi’s proposed visit to this UT on 30 December 2018.
The points are comparing to mainland, the prices of goods are high in A&N Islands due to multiple transportation freight charges involved on reaching the goods to these islands. To maintain equal price, Govt. of India has collected only Central Sales Tax (CST) and exempted VAT (i.e. Local Taxes) in these islands since independence till the date of implementation of GST (CGST + UTGST). With the reference, it is request for UTGST exemption in A&N Islands.
A letter for declaration of entire A & N Islands as hard Area by Granting Hard Area Allowance as 25%, 20% and 15% for Nicobar dist., N & M Andaman and South Andaman respectively is in process with MHA after vetting from Dept. of Revenue. Please pursue to declare during the visit of PM.
Similarly matter for exemption of IT for an amount of Rs. 3250.00 pm on the amount of ISDA as extended to the defence and other officials posting from mainland. Jolly also mentioned the point of Notification on Domicile for jobs to Islanders to be incorporated.
