Port Blair, Oct 30: Mr. Sanjib Kumar Mandal, Adhyaksh, Zilla Parishad, South Andaman has requested Mr. Krishan Kumar, Secretary (PWD), A & N Administration for one time semi-permanent patching of potholes of rural road leading from Collinpur junction to Collinpur beach for a length of 2.57 Km. The number of tourists visiting the Collinpur beach has been declined considerably because of pathetic condition of the road which is also hampering the livelihood of the local unemployed youths especially associated with tourism activities and small vendors.
The said road was initially constructed by APWD and subsequently transferred to Panchayati Raj under devolution of powers against the decision taken by the A&N Administration for its regular repair and maintenance. Presently, the surface of the said road is not worthy for the smooth movement of vehicular traffic due to formation of potholes, undulations and depressions causing lot of inconvenience to the general public as well as tourists.
