Port Blair, Oct 30: It seems that the Mayabunder Jetty has become a dumping ground for all kind of construction materials, making it very difficult for various vessels to discharge cargo and also to keep empty containers on the Jetty.
According to reports since last many months these construction materials have been kept on the Jetty, virtually leaving no space for any kind of cargo discharge or any space for containers.
According to passengers, such careless dumping of construction materials also poses serious threat to vessels and also the passengers.
When contacted the Chief Port Administrator of PMB told Andaman Sheekha that he has not receive any complaint yet in this regard. However he assured that he will enquire into this matter and if found correct he will direct concerned officers to keep all the construction materials in right place.
Hopefully the Mayabunder Jetty will be free from all kind of construction materials, so that the Jetty can be used for the purpose, for which it has been constructed.
