Port Blair, July 23: A dharna cum agitation was organised by the local unit of Bhartiya Janta Party today at Tiranga Park under the leadership of Mr. R. Mohan, state president BJP. Mr Omprakash, State Convener of Traders cell has convened this agitation.
As a part of the Nation wide agitation on FDI,GST, Food Security and Human rights 2006 Act, Foreign direct investment in retail, and Security of Traders to be given by the Government, the said agitation was held in these Islands too.
The Party strongly protested on the first four points which the Congress lead UPA Government wants to impose on the Traders, the leader of BJP alleged.
The State Unit of BJP also protested against present power crisis, scarcity of quarry materials, Buffer zone.
The effigies of Electricity Department and Quarry Products were also burnt by BJP workers.
The Dharna cum agitation was attended by Mr. Vishal Jolly, State Vice President, Mr. L Moorthy, State Treasurer, Dr Rekh, Prabhari City, City President, Mr. CH Babu, Mr. Anil Kumar Tiwary, State Secreatry, Mr. Baby Mathew, State President, Minority Morcha, Mrs. Zenat Mewa State Vice President, Mrs. Sheela Singh, State Secretary, Mr. T Reynold, State President, Mazdoor Sangh, Mr. Kedar Singh, State Secretary Yuva Morcha and other leaders.
