Port Blair, July 24: The State President of Bhartiya Janta Party, Mr. R. Mohan has requested the Lt. Governor (Retd) Lt. Genaral Bhupinder Singh, to demolish all wooden bungalows, which are surrounded by a huge area and have been reserved for top bureaucrats.
In a letter addressed to the Lt Governor with copy to the Chief Engineer, APWD, Mr Mohan added that, these Bungalows are occupied by the Senior officials of the Administration who are having very small family or no family, while many other bungalows remains unutilized.
As there is acute shortage of staff quarters and guest houses in these islands Mohan demanded to demolish all such bungalows and construct three storied blocks of A, B and C Types which can be further used by the senior officials and other employees of the Andaman & Nicobar Administration. “Some such blocks may also be utilized as tourist guest houses or transit guest houses,” Mohan added.
