Diglipur, 22 Oct: Severe Lightening struck BSNL exchange at Naveen Nagar, Diglipur yesterday. Due to this the Power Supply and other systems exploded at main exchange, it is learnt.
All landline numbers in Diglipur area including 100 of Police Control Room, 101 of Fire service and 102 of Hospital were not working since yesterday.
Majority of broadband connections are also down. Presently only the backup connections are working on repaired batteries.
Non Functional of Emergency numbers are major concern for the general public of Diglipur now. The ATMs at banks and other banking systems are also reportedly not working properly. The BSNL authorities have reportedly intimated this matter to the higher authorities at Port Blair but till now no help has reportedly reached Diglipur.
The BSNL Diglipur authorities worked hard since yesterday night to restore the mobile connections at bazaar area. Early morning a group of residents of Diglipur bazaar reached BSNL exchange and demanded early restoration of lines.
