Port Blair, Oct 16: India’s only active volcano in the Barren Island is reported to be erupting once again. Witnessing the phenomenon of spewing of smoke with balls of fire by this Active Volcano would be life time experience and in order to actualize this experience, the Directorate of Shipping Services, Andaman & Nicobar Administration has planned to introduce night ship trip to Barren Island.
Towards this, a passenger vessel of the Directorate will depart to Barren Island on 18th Oct 2018 (Thus) at 2100 Hrs from Haddo wharf and will reach Barren Island at around 0300 hrs on 19th Oct. 2018.
To facilitate the passenger onboard to witness the natural phenomena of eruption, the vessel will take a round of the Barren Island and will then sail back to Port Blair.
The vessel is likely to arrive Port Blair around 1000 Hrs on 19th Oct. 2018. The class wise passenger fare and time and place of issuance of tickets for the above voyage is being finalised, which will be publicized / intimated in due course of time for information of all. During the voyage, for the convenience of the passengers, on board catering and canteen facilities would be available on payment.
