Sitanagar, Oct 12: Students of Diglipur’s lone government English medium school, Govt. Model Sr. Secondary School, today staged dharna and chakka jam against non availability of sufficient teachers in the school.
According to students, since beginning of this session no permanent teachers are available in this school and because of this board exam students are worst hit.
Today morning since 8 AM the school students of class 6 to 12th boycotted their classes and later staged Chakka Jam on the road shouting slogan for posting of teachers.
Meanwhile Asst Commissioner Diglipur, Mr. Alok Kumar reached the spot and expressed his inability to appoint permanent teachers as most of them have either not joined their duties yet or have went in medical leave citing.
He informed that the administration is trying to appoint local teachers and the file is pending at Chief Secretary Level.
Unconvinced by such statement, students reportedly gheraoed, the vehicle of Asst Commissioner and sat on the road for about two hours.
Later the I/C of PS Diglipur SI V K Maurya convinced the students and removed the road block but students continued their boycott from roadside.
Pradhan Sitanagar, other PRI members and parents later decided that if their demands are not met within 22 October 2018, they will go for hunger strike.
