Port Blair, Oct 05: The Joint Action Forum today organized a Dharna at Tiranga Park Aberdeen Bazaar from 9.00 AM and demanded 100 percent Job Reservation for Islanders in Andaman and Nicobar Islands.
All senior leaders and prominent supporter of JAF were present during the Dharna. However because of rain the rally planned at 3.00 PM could not be conducted.
The JAF has also sent a letter to the Lt. Governor on this issue and said that in spite of repeated representation and even HMAC direction on 28th July 2017 Andaman and Nicobar administration has done nothing to provide maximum job opportunities to the islanders, therefore the islanders are agitated and staged Dharna on 5th October 2018 to full-fill the long pending genuine demand.
“The candidate of all the state of India are required to complete with candidate of their own states for getting the jobs but the poor backward people of Andaman and Nicobar islands, a far flung remote and backward hard area, are required to complete with entire population of India to get a job in our own home land,” the JAF added.
