Port Blair, Oct 04: The Directorate of Shipping Services has introduced Islander fare in Port Blair- Baratang sector, bringing a great relief for local residents. Earlier only tourist fare was applicable in Port Blair- Baratang ferry and Islanders also had to pay Rs. 500 one way ticket but from today Islanders will have to pay only Rs. 60.
Meanwhile, on the behalf of public of Baratang the Zilla Parishad Member of Baratang Mr. Alagar Swami has expressed gratitude to the Director of Shipping Services for introducing Islander fare in this route. He assured that like before the ferry will again be full from Baratang to Port Blair sector by local residents of the region, if proper publicity is made.
