Port Blair, Sept 30: As part of its 20th anniversary celebrations, Crescent Senior Secondary School, Wimberly Gunj, organised an Inter-School Science Seminar on “Sustainable Development” on 29th September 2018 at CPS Auditorium. Students from 08 different schools participated in the seminar.
Shabeeha Khadeeja, Class X, Iqra Public School, Wimberly Gunj, K. Mohammed Shabeeb, Class VII, Markaz Public School, Kanyapuram and Mini Franklin, Class X from Vitala Public School, Hope Town secured First, Second and Third positions respectively.
Mr. Debkumar Badra, Technical Officer, Indian Institute of Geomagnetism, Shoal Bay and Mrs. Mahira Kakajiwala, Education Officer, Andaman and Nicobar Environmental Team (ANET) were the distinguished jury members. All the 08 students went through a written examination, powerpoint presentation and took questions from the jury members.
Mr. Debkumar Bhadra addressing the gathering highlighted the role of students in implementing the sustainable goals in their classroom and school environment. Ms. Mahira Kakajiwala in her address expressed her impressions on the performance of the students and gave relevant tips to follow sustainable development goals.
E. Saira Banu, Principal, Crescent Senior Secondary School presented Awards and Certificates to the winners. Management committee member M K Abdul Gafoor presented mementoes to the jury members.
Earlier, M K Naseerudeen (GTT) welcomed the gathering and also briefed about the rules and regulations of the competition. The program concluded with vote of thanks proposed by Mrs. Simi. S (PGT), Program Coordinator of the Inter School Science Seminar.
