
Port Blair, Sept 28:Maj Gen Beji Mathews, Chief of Staff, Andaman Nicobar Command inaugurated ParakramParv at Netaji Stadium today to mark the second anniversary of surgical strike.
On the occasion, the spectators applauded the impressive demonstration of heliborne attack by a Special Forces unit on an enemy target on ground. The spectators also praised the ground attack and capture of enemy post by waving of the National Flag. The shattering roar of an Army jawan while demonstrating ‘Bayonet Attack’ on an enemy also drew equal appreciation from children of schools, NCC cadets and the dignitaries present.
The visitors appreciated the musical acumen of the Military Band along with its synchronized movements. In true spirit of celebration of the courage and bravery of the Indian Armed Forces during operations, various stalls were put up by the three components; Army, Navy & Air Force, of the Andaman and Nicobar Command. The stalls, displayed high tech equipment used for surveillance, bomb disposal and communication apart from modern weapons used in various types of operations. The visitors took keen interest in understanding the specialized weapons and equipment on display. School children and adults alike, were seen taking selfies and photographs along with BMP tank and mannequins of soldiers on display in the arena. A separate enclosure showcased the videos of military operations by Army, Navy and the Air Force.
The general public and School children were also seen thronging the Naval Wharf to visit INS Saryu and to see the display of Dornier, microlight aircraft, Chetak and Mi-17V5 helicopter at INS Utkrosh.
