Port Blair, Sept 24: The Port Blair City witnessed massive protest since yesterday evening, in which people demanded arrest of outgoing Chairperson of Port Blair Municipal Council (PBMC), Mr. Inder Pal Singh and his 11 associates for brutally attacking and abducting a local youth over a minor issue.
The one year term of Chairperson PBMC of IP Singh ended on 23 September 2018 and last night only Mr. I P Singh was arrested following huge protest of public outside Aberdeen Police Station and also the house of Mr. I P Singh.
Protestors initially alleged inaction from the side of Police but by evening police had already arrested Mr. I P Singh, who is also the Vice President of Bharatiya Janta Yuva Morcha’s Andaman & Nicobar Unit and 10 others for attacking and abducting the youth under section 365, 342, 323, 147,149 etc.
However, the protest continued till this afternoon as protestors were demanding arrest of wife of Mr. IP Singh, who was also allegedly involved in this merciless beating. Protestors Ghereod Aberdeen Police Station and also organsied Chakka Jam in protest.
The RJD auto union suspended operation of all autos of the union in protest.
Later by afternoon Mrs. Seema was also arrested and was produced in court with other 11 accused from where except Mrs. Seema, all 11 accused were sent to 14 days Judicial Custody. Mrs. Seema was granted bail by the court.
Meanwhile, Mr. Inder Pal Singh, State Vice President, Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha and Councillor, Ward no. 7, PBMC was also suspended for indefinite period from Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP) with immediate effect by Mr. Vishal Jolly, the State President, BJP, A & N Islands.
