Port Blair, Sept 23: The Post of Chief Pharmacist in Directorate of Health Services was vacated in September 2017 on superannuation of Smti.M.Chandrika (B.Pharm). Thereafter, Diploma in Pharmacy holder, working as Pharmacist under DHS was given an addition charge to look after the duties of Chief Pharmacist vide Order No 5608 dt.27/10/17.
Many alleged that the order was issued over-sighing the existing RR for the Chief Pharmacist under which the minimum qualification for the post of Chief Pharmacist is Bachelors
degree in Pharmacy. This minimum qualification was maintained to fill the vacant post of Chief Pharmacist since 1989 to September 2017. Consequently a revised order No.2709 dated 12/07/18 was issued appointing Mr.K.Shiva Kumar (B.Pharm), Pharmacist to take over the charges of Chief Pharmacist after due approval from the Secretary Health.
Surprisingly, now it has been learnt that even after the revised order the Pharmacist (Diploma holder) has not yet handed over the charges to Mr. K.Shiva Kimar even after the lapse of more than two months.
Such Non-Compliance of DHS order has triggered a controversy and many are demanding strict action in this regard.
Meanwhile, some social workers have already written letters to higher authorities and also to the Chief Vigilance Commissioner, A & N Administration demanding action but till now no positive outcome has come.
