Port Blair, Aug 27: Coast Guard District Headquarters No.14 conducted a Community Interaction Programme at Chouldari on 24 August 18 with special emphasis to elucidate “Safety at Sea” campaign. The programme was attended by local fishing populace, representatives from Fisheries department and local police. During the event the fishermen were briefed about various safety precautions to be adhered whilst operating at sea, including use of safety equipment and gears. The fishermen were advised to carry all lifesaving equipment, Boat registration papers including individual biometric ID cards. Usage of DATs and techniques for survival were also demonstrated. The fishermen community are also sensitised that they are the “eyes and ears at sea” for security agencies.
