Port Blair, Aug 26: A three days Workshop on “Design of Bridge and its Components”, organized by Civil Engineering Department of DBRAIT, was inaugurated today in the Conference Hall of DBRAIT Auditorium. During the inaugural function the Chief Guest Mr. D.K.Pandey, Executive Engineer, ALHW highlighted the importance of Bridge Designing knowledge from the Island perspective and advised the students to take benefit from such workshops. The gathering was welcomed by Dr.Jenson Daniel, Head of Department, Civil Engineering Department of DBRAIT and the vote of thanks was proposed by Workshop Coordinator, Mr. S.Praveen, Asst.Professor, Civil Engineering Department. More than 100 students from both Degree and Diploma program along with members of BRAIT Alumni and practicing engineers have registered for the three days workshop.
The resource person, for the three days workshop ending on 27th August’2018, is the renowned researcher and faculty member from School of Civil Engineering and surveying, Portsmouth (UK) Mr. Saprava Bhattacharya. Mr. Saprava Bhattacharya is also a member of the Materials, structures and Geotechnics Research Group and was a native of this island.
