
Port Blair, July 27: A group of unemployed youths met Mr. Kuldeep Rai Sharma, PCC President at Gandhi Bhavan and discussed issue of filling up the post of teachers under the Education Department and submitted a copy of the representation submitted by them to the Lt. Governor, A & N Islands. Accordingly Mr. Kuldeep has taken up the matter with the Lt. Governor on 26/07/2018.
In his letter Mr. Kuldeep said that in pursuance to the directions issued by the Lt. Governor for filling up all vacancies available under the Administration on time bond manner, the Education Department has published Recruitment Notice for filling up 224 posts of Primary School Teachers. However a large number of eligible qualified candidates have lost their chance for appearing the recruitment for the post of PST due to over age.
The PCC President pointed out that recruitment for the post of PST was last held during 2016 and therefore these qualified candidates have lost their opportunity to appear the recruitment process and they have now crossed the age limit for appearing the recruitment process for PST.
He further informed that in similar situation in the past the Education Department and certain other departments of the A & N Administration allowed one time relaxation of age for 8 years considering lack of employment opportunities in these islands and also to the fact that the Administration being the major employment provider.
In his letter Mr. Kuldeep urged the Lt. Governor to consider the case of over aged eligible qualified candidates for the post of PST and issue necessary instructions to authorities concerned to allow one time age relaxation of 08 years as was done in the past so that the eligible qualified over aged candidates could also appear in the recruitment process for the post of PST under the Education department.
