Port Blair, July 14: The Member of Parliament Mr. Bishnu Pada Ray has said he will support the Gram Vikas Samity’s decision to Block Road, at Sippighat on 16th July against the move of local Administration to demand surrender of land of tsunami hit farmers, in lieu of compensation.
Targeting the administration the MP said that the administration actually wanted to sell these submerged lands to foreigners for reasons best known to everybody. A Malaysian company had already visited our islands to have a look of these submerged lands.
Later Mr. Ray highlighted the issue of implementation of PAT regulation and Buffer zone and said that again the administration is tricking the people of these islands by giving false press releases on the Daily telegram that “New PAT regulations ensure peaceful coexistence”.
“Its now 31 villages, altogehter 51 villages fall under Buffer Zone. How can the administration give figure about the population, living in Buffer zone when the Administration never carried out any survey in this regard,” questions the MP.
He said that a person can be jailed for three years and more and also be charged penalty if he crosses the buffer zone mistakenly.
MP also raised the issues related to education in different parts of these Islands and said that the Kishori Nagar school of Diglipur does not have toilet blocks. He said that some of the highly educated Science streams teachers of English medium schools have been posted in Bangla medium schools
“This is just because of lack of preparation and planning of the education department. I demand for immediate construction of toilet blocks in Kishori Nagar School and to deploy the science stream teachers to English medium schools,” he added.
