Port Blair, July 15: An Essay Writing and Song Competition was held on the topic of ‘Ramadhan’ by ISMAT…a women’s initiative, at Ummat Public School, Middle Point on 14th July 2012. Altogether 24 students from different schools participated in this event. Parents also attended this programme.
In Essay Writing Competition Shruthi Menon of KV-I won the first prize, whereas P P Divya of St. Mary’s School and M Shaheen of Ummat Public School bagged the second and the third prize respectively. In the Song category Tanzila Rehman and Anisa Izar were awarded.
Rubina Siddiqui gave a talk on the health benefits of fastings. The Do’s and Don’ts of Ramdhan was explained by Sakina Bibi and Sajida Zubair explained Ramdhan in the light of Qur’an and Sunnah. The vote of thanks was proposed by Mehwash Jadwet, President, ISMAT.
