Congress bails out from ACCI’s all party meeting

Port Blair, July 12: The Andaman Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ACCI) today organized an all party meeting to discuss on various local development issues and problems, faced by Islanders. During the all party meeting all political parties today unanimously agreed to hold a ‘chakkajam’ in Andaman and Nicobar Islands, if no action is taken by the Administration on the Memorandum of ACCI. It was decided that the Memorandum, regarding local burning issues and problems of Islanders, will be submitted by ACCI on Monday.
Sources in Congress Party however today clarified that the party do not support the ACCI’s this move.
“Congress party, in ruling, is in a position to get the solution of any public grievances all alone and will go to any extent to oppose any move from any corner which will hamper the progress and development of these islands territory,” Kurma Rao, a senior Congress leaders said during the all party meeting today.
During the meeting, which was attended by leaders of all political parties, various local issues like shortage of quarry materials, Buffer Zone Notification, compensation for tsunami landless farmers, Viper Island, shortage of sand and timber, PBMC’s Octroi issue etc were elaborately discussed.
Mr. Bishnu Pada Ray, the Member of Parliament, Mr. R Mohan, President BJP A&N State Unit, Mr. Khurma Rao from Congress and many other local leaders had attended the meeting.
