Port Blair, July 09: Mrs Anusia Devi, the State President, Bharatiya Janata Mahila Morcha has requested to the Lt Governor to order immediate implementations of various schemes, which are there in plan book but have not been implemented yet on the ground.
“In AN Islands, there is only farming, which can be claimed as our own since this is maintained by our own people. But there is no provision for water and electricity supply to any paddy field and the poor farmers are facing lots of trouble for it. As per the Plan Book, projects for this purpose are there since 1977 viz Ramakrishnapur Minor irrigation Scheme; Vishnu Nallah Minor irrigation Schene; Prem Bahadur Nallah Minor Irrigation Scheme; Swaroop Nallah Minor Irrigation Scheme; Korrang Nallah Minor Irrigation Scheme; Panchawati Nallah Minor Irrigation Scheme; Khudirampur Minor Irrigation Scheme; Mithakhari Nallah Minor Irrigation Scheme and Kolla Nallah irrigation-cum-water supply scheme. But till date these projects have not come into force,” Mrs. Anusia Devi said in her letter.
She requested to the Lt Governor to order immediate implementations on these Projects for the welfare of the farmers.
