Port Blair, July 09: As a part of the celebration a “Vanamahotsava special wall magazine” was put by the students of the school depicting the role of trees and forests in our eco system. The articles presented by V Roshni Priyanka XI, V Abhishek IX A and K Satish VIII B, Afsana Banu XI bagged the first three positions. The school also carried out plantation drive and will continue the drive till the end of this month.On the occasion Shri Bency Joy, Eco club, Incharge conducted a quiz competition titled “Role of trees in our lives” for the students at a special function held at the school premises. The team comprising SriRam,Asif Sohail , Babita Roy and M Rohit,Manisha and Dhiman Mondal were declared as the winners and runners respectively of the quiz competition.
On the occasion while addressing the students at the function, Principal of the school stressed upon the issue of environmental degradation. He said that if timely action is not taken to prevent and restore environmental degradation, it may go beyond human control and threaten the survival of all living organisms on this planet. He also pleaded to every teacher and student to dedicate themselves to safeguard and protect the ever increasing deterioration of our environment. Further he congratulated the Eco Club, students and teachers for putting their efforts in celebrating the day in a meaningful manner to create environmental awareness among the school children and local community. The program ended with the vote of thanks by Smt Boby S Biju.
