Port Blair, May 21: The fire fighters of Andaman and Nicobar Islands have been doing a great job, despite limitations of equipments and logistics. This is only because of Andaman and Nicobar Fire Fighters, Andaman and Nicobar Islands did not witness any devastating fire in recent years.
At present during any fire call the shortage of fire tender is being covered up by sending all fire tenders from nearly fire stations but now adding more teeth the Andaman and Nicobar Fire Service have purchased six brand new Fire Tenders from New Delhi.
All these new Fire Tenders have now reached Port Blair via Chennai, although if sources are to be believed, this has not been decided yet that in which all Fire Stations these new fire Tenders will be sent. Nevertheless, this has become clear that the Fire Service is moving ahead towards modernization and Islands are in the safe hands. Former staffs of Fire Service while talking to Andaman Sheekha on the condition of anonymity said that the Fire Service must continue such purchases and modernize itself as soon as possible as most of the equipments are back dated, which could be a problem in coming days.
