Naveen Nagar, Apr 17: The foundation of Panchayat Samiti Guest House which was being constructed since 18 years started crumbling before its inauguration. The construction work for the building started in the year 2003 by the then Pramukh Mr. Sushil Mondal. The cost of the building construction has now reportedly reached closed to Rs. 3.5 Crores, which was in lakhs at initial stage. All the rooms are ready long ago and at present the building is waiting for the inauguration.
For the beautification and development of the road side area of the building, a work of nearly Rs. 30 Lakh was awarded by the Pramukh for gardening and allied works to a contractor but two weeks ago the front wall of the Guest House along with steel railing collapsed on the road after a brief spell of rains.
Speaking to Andaman Sheekha the Pramukh Panchayat Samiti Mr. Shyamal Mondal said that the said wall was 15 years old so during the beatification it collapsed. He also promised to inaugurate the Guest House before the Diglipur Vikas Mela but it was not done.
Villagers alleged that the wall collapsed due to removal of the adjacent dustbin & earth in between the walls. After the collapse, the wall is now again being constructed as RCC, which was earlier PCC in the same place and earth also being refilled at the same place.
Now the villagers are demanding to make this public that with which fund the wall of the guest house is being reconstructed. The public are also questioning that instead of investing 30 Lakhs for beatification, why the authorities are not improving the amenities and parking area of the guest house?
