Port Blair, March 25: The Police Training School, Prothrapur, A&N Islands has organized two days short course on “Juvenile Justice (Care & Protection) Act 2015 & Gender Sensitization” from 19/03/2018 to 20/03/2018 for in-service Police personnel from the rank of Constable to Sub-Inspector under the overall supervision of Smti. Usha Rangnani, IPS, Principal, PTS, Prothrapur. The main objective of the course is to enhance the knowledge regarding duties and responsibilities of Juvenile Welfare Police Officer at Police Station and proper implementation of Laws/procedures so as to effectively handle Juvenile matters/cases. The course was inaugurated by Mr. R.K. Sharma, CLI, PTS. During the course Smti Rita Devi, Child Welfare Officer, Social Welfare Board, Mr. Quamaruddin ,Ld. Sr.APP, Inspr. R.K.Sharma, CLI/PTS, Inspr.S.K. Sarkar, PTS, Inspector JyothiChatwal, I/C CAW Cell, Smti Shanti Murgeshan I/C One Stop Centre, Junglighat and SI D.K. Seal, PTS, Prothrapur had delivered informative lectures on the topics like, Duties & responsibilities of Juvenile Welfare Police Officer at Police Station, Legal Provision related to dealing with Juvenile Conflict with law, Role of Juvenile Justice Board & Child Welfare Committee and advisories issued by MHA, Bail & Charge Sheet related to Juvenile Conflict with law, Provision under IPC for the protection of Children, Role of legal representative, free legal aid, Guideline on examination of Child victim/witnesses, Gender Sensitization-gender equality and need of the hour, Bias/discrimination faced by women at workplace, Sexual harassment of women at workplace, landmark judgment of Hon’ble Supreme Court 2012, Child in need of care and protection and various project/schemes for children in other states. Altogether, 17 Police Personnel of various Police Station/Units participated in this course, at the end, Mr. K. Michal Raj, DANIPS, Vice principal, PTS concluded the training programme on emphasizing the objectives/Overviews of the course and its thorough implementation.
