Port Blair, Mar 23: World Water Day 2018 was celebrated by Andaman & Nicobar State Centre (ANSC) of The Institution of Engineers (India) (IEI) in association with APWD & PBMC on Thursday, 22 March, 2018 at 3.00 pm at ALHW Conference Hall by organizing Technical Presentations & Lectures on the theme – “Nature for Water”.
Er. Arun Kumar, EE (Plg.), APWD made a presentation on this years theme, in which he tried to blend the science of water with the old wisdom of past generations and also the advise in the religious texts highlighting the precious commodity and its conservation and also judicious use. Er. T. N. Krishnamurthy, Chief Engineer & Administrator, ALHW and also Immediate Past Chairman of the Institution of Engineers (India), A & N State Centre also made a presentation on Rainwater Harvesting.
During the Interactive session, Past Chairman, ANSC, IEI, Er. Manohar Singh, FIE, Retired SE, Electricity Department & Er. M. Balamurugan, MIE, Past Hon. Secretary of ANSC, IEI & T & C P, APWD and participating Engineers from many departments raised many queries on the ways and means to conserve water and to use it judiciously. The queries were replied to by the respective speakers in a lucid manner and the session was very lively technically. A large number of Engineers from various departments were part of the proceedings.
