Port Blair, March 22: The Ward Councilor of Birchgunj, Mrs Vaishali Rani Dayal along with some villagers today stopped a number of trucks at Brookshabad, Birchgunj area, which where carrying Boulders and Earth after 05:00 PM.
The Councilor claimed that such acts of carrying Boulders and Earth after 05:00 PM is illegal.
“A number of loaded trucks ply from this area even during the midnight, which is illegal and they don’t have any permit for the same. These trucks are not only disturbing villagers but also causing huge pollution,” said Mrs Vaishali.
Further talking to Andaman Sheekha, Mrs Vaishali said that this matter was earlier communicated to the Deputy Commissioner, South Andaman, where it has been discussed in detail.
“When the administration is not allowing the trucks from the Corbyn’s Cove area after 05:00pm, then why those are allowed from the Birchgunj, Brookshabad area following? After our discussion the DC, South Andaman ordered us to construct a Barricade here, which has been done, where he will depute his staffs for checking plying of illegal trucks,” she added.
“Everything has been done as per the orders of the DC, South Andaman and hopefully by tomorrow a press note would also be released in the news papers,” Mrs Vaishali added.
