Little Andaman, March 18: A total of 104 pieces of hardwood of Pyima & Toungpeing measuring 1.521 cbm was seized on 18 March at 1500hrs in the reserve forest of Sunderpur, Little Andaman by Hut Bay Police Station.
On a tip off Hut Bay Police Station constituted a raiding team, consisting of Sub Inspector M Saravanan, Duty Officer, i/C R K Pur Out Post, Mr. Subramaniyam along with police party, which successfully seized the timber.
Earlier, on 10/3/2018 also the Police Unit seized around 106 Pcs of Hardwood from a Truck at night and during then the entire raid was lead by Sub-Inspector, Subramaiyan I/C, Out Post, R.K Pur.
Villagers of Little Andaman are although happy with the action of Police team, which is consistently conducting checks and raids at various place for illegal timber, have however expressed serious concern over slow action of Forest Department, who are actually responsible for catching timber poachers.
