Port Blair, Feb 28: The long during halt of Private Buses at Garacharma Bus Stand, near Garacharma School has brought in tremendous problems for commuters, travelling in that route on daily basis.
People allege that such long duration halting of private buses at Garacharma Bus Stand to hunt for passengers, not only creates traffic chaos but also causes accidents in the aforesaid area.
“It takes around 10-15 minutes to cross Garacharma now-a-days just because there is no traffic personnel deputed in the area to control the traffic neither there is any police constable deputed to direct the private buses to move forward immediately,” said Mr Tiwari a resident of Sippighat.
“At peak hours the area is full with vehicles sometimes its half an hour to cross the 100 meter stretch, the RTO department must shift the bus stand behind the Garacharma School,” demanded another resident of Garacharma, Mr Laxman.
Talking to Andaman Sheekha a senior officer of Traffic Police on the condition of anonymity said that already a notification is passed by the ADM that new bus stands will be notified and some bus stands will be removed, “hopefully as soon as this system is put on effect, the problem will be resolved,” said the senior officer of Traffic Police.
