Diglipur, Feb 26: Settlers’ Offspring Welfare Organization (SOWO) today reiterated the demands for implementation of Inner Line Permit and action against encroachment during a public meeting at Madhupur road, Diglipur.
Newly elected president of SOWO Mr. Babul Biswas said that Inner Line permit should be immediately implemented in these islands and enquiry should be initiated against the large scale and well planned encroachments in Andaman.
Vice President Mr. Madhai Murshid speaking on this occasion said that as per Fundamental duties 51 sec (a) every citizen should protect the wildlife and SOWO follows this rule, but the encroachers are blindly cutting the trees.
“Land sale to outsiders should be stopped as the Land and resources are limited and Islanders are having no place to go like mainlanders,” he said.
The members also cautioned that if the demands are not met then during April they will hold mega protest in this regard.
Secretary Gopal Dakua said that the ‘Islanders Identity Cards’ were prepared to start the Inner Line Permit in these Islands but due to political pressures the Administration is not implementing the Inner Line permit in these Islands.
Nimbutala SOWO branch Unit President Mr. Ranjan Mondal asked the settlers to join the movement of Inner Line Permit.
Joint Secretary Mr. Asit Bain demanded for restricting Andaman jobs only for Islanders. For that Government should be take necessary steps.
