Port Blair, July 04: Lt. General (Retd) Bhopinder Singh, PVSM, AVSM, Lt. Governor has asked the Education Department to appoint Science teachers on contract basis to ensure that Science streams are not only introduced in Karmorta and Havelock but science streams are not closed in the schools at Port Mout and R.K. Pur in Little Andaman.
Education department will post contract as well as regular teachers in judicious mix in the four locations to ensure maintenance of the quality of education. This was decided by the Lt. Governor when a delegation of parents and students of the Port Mout School with Mr. Kuldeep Rai Sharma, President, Pradesh Congress Committee and PRI members had met the Lt. Governor in Raj Niwas. Requests in this regard were also received from the Member of Parliament and President of BJP. The Lt. Governor informed the delegation that administration has to consider the larger interest of Islands as a whole and the administration is committed to provide science streams in all the islands in our UT including Karmota as well as Havelock.
On this occasion the Lt. Governor also impressed upon the parents to inculcate moral values to the children and to motivate them to work hard to not only excel in academic but also to become good citizens.
