Diglipur, Feb 17: A Convergence camp for Empowerment of Women to bridge gap between demand and supply of public service was organized today at Multipurpose Hall at Diglipur as ‘Shakti Samanvaya Shivir’ by the Department of Social Welfare in collaboration with various stakeholders viz. Health Department, ICDS, Anganwadi Training Centers.
Chief Guest Asst Commissioner, Diglipur Mr. Shailendra Kumar Singh inaugurated by lightening the lamp. After inauguration he went around the stalls which were put up by the Social Welfare department. Various stalls like Beti Bachao Beti Padhao, Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojna, Health & Nutrition awareness, Pension Schemes, display of locally made items of self help groups and a counter for BP, Sugar & HB test organized. At these stalls registration of new beneficiaries identified, Assistance provided in applying for different financial assistant schemes of Social Welfare department.
Speaking on this occasion Asst Commissioner said that the camp provides a common platform for general public; especially women, to get familiarized with Govt. of India Schemes and an opportunity for awareness generation on policies, developmental activities etc. He also interacted with the stakeholders and lauded their efforts and display of the products and discussed about the schemes for women and girl children.
Secretary Social Welfare Rashmi Singh said, the contributions of women in various fields cannot be forgotten and we ought to celebrate their achievements and stressed on the need for gender equality. The camps are designed to bring various stakeholders together on one platform with the functionaries of ICDS playing a catalyst role.
A booklet on ‘Shakti Samanvaya Shivir was distributed to the delegates on this occasion which is intended to give easy tips and tools for organizing convergence camps for women at their doorsteps.
Earlier Smti Irene Nicolas, CDPO Diglipur welcomed the guests and highlighted about the significance of the day she expressed gratitude to all the stakeholders for their support towards women and girl child empowerment here in the Islands and sought their continuous support in this regard.
A skit on Beti Bachao Beti Padao presented by the Anganwadi workers & Adolescent girls. In the evening Secretary (SW) Rashmi Singh inaugurated three Anganwadi centers at Ramnagar Gram Panchayat (Sansad Adarsh gram Yojana ).
