Port Blair, Feb 07: While the traffic police and transport department is too much strict with two and three wheelers, it seems that the heavy vehicles have been given full freedom to violate all possible rules.
As per norms every long distance bus must carry a First Aid Box so that at the time of any accident, First Aid can be administered but it seems that not only private but many buses run by STS do not have proper First Aid Box.
While in some buses First Aid Box is used to keep belongings of driver and conductor, in some cases the box is used for keeping water bottles.
Most of the STS buses in remote Islands are in horrible shape and it seems that in case of any accident in coming days, the injured will not even get a bandage to cover the wounds. The Police team of Jirkatang and Middle Strait Outpost must strictly check the First Aid Box in every long distance buses for the sake of safety of passengers.
