Port Blair, July 03: Angry public of South Andaman region today gheraoed the Wimberlygunj JE Site office of Electricity Department. This evening general public of Wimberlygunj and Bambooflat brought out a rally against frequent power cuts which culminated at JE’s site office. But at the culmination point, angry residents of the area virtually gheraoed the JE’s site office and demanded to end the power cuts in the region.
General public of the area, troubled by scheduled and un-scheduled power cuts were demanding some permanent solution for this power crisis.
Angry public reportedly told the JE to convey a message to the Department’s superior officers that if Power Cuts do not end in the region from tomorrow, public of the area will organise mass-dharna at Bambooflat Jetty.
Sources told Andaman Sheekha that the JE had reportedly admitted that as he has to take care of both Wimberlygunj and Bambooflat Site office and that is the reason why he is unable to address, the un-scheduled power cut problems.
According to reports general public of the area had met the Executive Engineers of Electricity department several times in past with these demands, which fell in deaf ears.
